Karla Kay Benjamin - Directing of Marketing/Writer

My name is Karla Kay Benjamin.  I am the Marketing Director for Stanwood Camano Arts Festivals which produces Summer Arts Jam in addition to other upcoming festivals.  My employment history includes serving on Youth Advisory Committees for the City of Redmond and the City of Everett.  I have owned my own art instruction business for 30 years teaching privately and publicly out of my own studio and publicly through the Boys and Girls Club and City Venues (Redmond Old Firehouse, City of Kirkland, City of Issaquah, City of Everett, City of Marysville).  I was also employed as a program coordinator (Drug Court Coordinator) for Snohomish County Superior Court for 16+ years (1999-2016)

In addition to my program coordinating and marketing work I own an Art Company.  My company name is Karla Kay Art.  I specialize in hand painted silk scarves and tapestries.  I attended college at Arizona State University and have a BFA with an emphasis in Fiber Arts/Surface Design.  I enjoy working on fabric because when the fabric moves it seems to bring the art to life.  I enjoy working on silk because of the beautiful way it absorbs the dyes and shimmers when it moves and the light hits it.   You will see both nature and animal themes in my work.  I like the outdoors and this is reflected in my art.
